Discovery Call: Your First Step

The journey to your dream space starts with a Discovery Call. This phone conversation allows us to explore your specific design project and discuss how we work. During the call, I will ask thoughtful questions to get a sense of your style, needs, and vision. This is an opportunity to see if we’re the right fit for each other, and to ensure that your space will be uniquely tailored to you.

I value this step because I believe that great design comes from understanding not only the space but also the person who lives in it. By the end of the call, you’ll feel confident in the process, and excited about the potential of your home!

Donna Comes to You

Once we’ve had the chance to connect, I will bring my expertise directly to your home for a personalized consultation. I’ll ask more questions and take a brief tour of your space to get a better sense of its layout, lighting, and other key elements that should be considered in the design plan. We’ll work together to define your style, the functionality of each area, and identify which existing furnishings should be incorporated.

The first appointment typically lasts about an hour. Once we decide to work together, I’ll take photos and precise measurements to create a custom design tailored to your needs. If you have multiple areas or larger projects, we may need additional appointments to gather all necessary measurements and details.

Throughout the process, you can relax knowing that every detail will be thoughtfully handled, reflecting your unique style without you having to lift a finger. Before the design phase begins, we will finalize both the style and the budget, ensuring everything aligns with your vision.

Budget

People are often hesitant to discuss a budget, but for both parties it is by far one of the most important aspects of your initial consultation. You may not know how much things cost and we can work with you to determine a price range that accomplishes your overall project goals.

Your investment will determine the furnishings I can include in the project. One of the many benefits of working with DL Rich Designs is access to a wide range of products at various price points. DL Rich Designs has access to a vast array of American-made furniture, to the trade only pieces, and custom upholstery and drapery. We also have imported furniture options at different price points to help fit in anyone’s investment level.

Design Plan & Presentation

I will present my ideas through a mixture of PowerPoint presentations, 3-D drawings, and product images, as well as hand samples of products such as flooring, tile, drapery, and furniture fabrics. Together, we’ll make the selections and discuss any adjustments necessary to the design plan.

I will have worked with the budget that was agreed on earlier in the process and will be able to give package pricing that will include all design elements, shipping, delivery and installation. By having a budget to work with, there will be no surprises when you see your design presentation — you can relax!

As your products are ordered from a wide range of vendors, items arrive individually and are stored safely until everything arrives. Some things may arrive within weeks, custom items may take several months depending on fabric availability and production schedules. I will keep you informed throughout the process and let you know about any delays or substitutions.

The Final Reveal

The most thrilling part of the design process is the final reveal. On installation day, it’s best to leave me in charge as I supervise the sub-contractors who will handle tasks like installing window treatments and hanging light fixtures. You can trust that I’ll oversee every detail, ensuring your home is transformed seamlessly while you enjoy the anticipation of seeing the finished space.
